For the past 50 years, the Consumer Electronics Show has presented groundbreaking technologies. Everything from the computer mouse to 3D printers have debuted at CES. This year marked the first time CES became a virtual event. Over 2000 companies presented new products and innovations.
It was very hard to narrow down, but here are GGD’s fav gadget picks for 2021 and beyond. Step into the future below!
1. The Cadillac Personal Autonomous Vehicle (PAV) is a new luxury robotaxi concept, no human driver required. Cadillac describes it as a “mobile living room.” The goal is to serve as a driverless competitor to ride-sharing companies like Uber Black or Lyft Lux. Details on production are still slim, but hopefully, more info about features will be released later this year.
2. In under two minutes, the ColdSnap will make ice cream. No complex recipes or freezing periods. Just insert a ColdSnap pod (which last for a year), scan the built-in QR code and the mixer does the rest! The ColdSnap can also make frozen margaritas, smoothies, and other single-serve treats. Watch it work here.
3. The BioButton is yet another example of how the COVID-19 pandemic has transformed our world. Created by BioIntelliSense, a Data-as-a-Service (DaaS) platform, the BioButton is an FDA-cleared medical device that can monitor COVID-19 symptoms for up to 90 days (depending on settings). The BioButton is a BioSticker™ on-body sensor. Users simply wear the device near their chest, and it monitors vital signs. Once a patient’s data is captured, a BioReport is sent to the physician. 4. Create your own lipstick shades at home with Perso, an AI-powered gadget developed by L’Oréal’s Technology Incubator. To create a bespoke shade, users simply insert a YSL Beaute (owned by L’Oréal) color cartridge into the Perso and take advantage of YSL’s Rouge Sur Mesure App. The device will be available for purchase in September 2021. Join the Beta Tester Program here.
5. Want a personal cleaning robot? Samsung has two! The JetBot 90 AI+ version is powered by Intel and uses 3D sensors to clean your space. The vacuum comes equipped with a “Clean Station” and operates similar to a driverless car. Watch it navigate spaces here.
6. Even when you recycle, there is no way to guarantee plastics or other materials won’t still end up in landfills. In fact, recent studies reveal that about 91% of plastics do not end up getting recycled. The Lasso aims to change all of that through its app and approach to close-loop recycling. Instead of depending on blue bins, the Lasso appliance accepts your materials. It cleans, processes and stores items. Through the app, you can schedule on-demand collections and ensure your recycled materials never reach the ocean or a landfill.
7. Razer’s Project Brooklyn is designed for total immersion gaming. The chair features a 180-degree transparent screen and Razer’s HyperSense modules- giving users more lifelike sensory. Take sneak peek here.
8. Shower Power by Ampere is a waterproof, bluetooth speaker. It fits any shower head; so you can listen to your favorite music, podcasts or audiobooks while still in the bathroom. Shower Power is made from recycled ocean plastic and is fully powered by water.
9. To ring the Alarm.com Touchless Video Doorbell, all you have to do is stand in front of a door. It is the first commercially available video doorbell that requires no physical contact. If a delivery is dropped off or a person visits, the doorbell rings automatically. To activate the system, all you do is simply step on a special doormat. If a person arrives, the doorbell rings, a video clip starts recording and an alert is sent to the homeowner’s phone. Instead of answering the door right away, a homeowner can communicate with visitors through live HD video.
10. Hands-free is the move! Due to COVID-19, interest and demand for touchless devices has increased-including toilets. This year at CES, Kohler debuted two new touchless toilets. Once is priced at $600, the other at $1000. To flush, all you have to do is wave your hand. There is a sensor in the flush lever that detects motion and activates once your hands move. Kohler is expected to release both toilets next month.
